Remax Doors Attends World’s Leading Trade Fair in Germany

At Remax Doors, offering our clients world-class products is a top priority. To deliver on that commitment, it’s important for us to keep our finger on the pulse of leading innovations and advancements in technology on a global scale.

This year, Remax Doors Director, Bernard Lee, attended BAU 2025 in Munich. One of the world’s leading trade fairs for architecture, materials, and systems, BAU 2025 showcased the work of over 2,000 exhibitors from 58 different countries. We caught up with Lee to hear about his experience and the insights he brought back.

Q: Can you tell us about BAU and what makes it such an important event?
Lee: BAU is massive—200,000 square metres dedicated to industrial and office door systems, access systems, cladding, bollards, dock doors, security gates, and much more. It’s one of the best places to see the latest innovations in the industry.

Q: What was your first impression when you arrived? Any standout moments?
Lee: The sheer scale of it was incredible. It was fantastic to be able to meet and speak directly with a number of industry leaders at their expo stands.

Q: How does this compare to trade fairs in Australia?
Lee: We have some excellent trade expos in Australia as well, but it’s so important for us to consider global trends and technologies in our own research and development. Delivering truly world-class solutions for our clients is only possible if we get to see these kinds of events at a global scale.

Q: What were some standout innovations you saw?
Lee: There were so many! I think what stood out to me were the designs and products that put the client's needs front and centre. Intelligent designs that really solved key challenges for the end-user; whether that be speed, access control, energy efficiency (it gets pretty cold in Germany!), safety or remote access/control. It was all pretty impressive!

Q: Did you notice a difference in customer demands between the EU and Australia?
Lee: Absolutely. The EU has a much stronger focus on thermal insulation due to high energy costs. As a result businesses invest more in energy-efficient doors and windows.

Q: Was sustainability a big topic at the expo?
Lee: BAU was really focused more on emerging technology, but sustainability is embedded in European standards, so it’s really engrained in all the products one way or another. There was definitely a clear emphasis on reducing energy loss through smart design too.

Q: How does attending events like BAU help Remax Doors stay ahead?
Lee: It’s crucial. Technology just moves so quickly and the industry evolves rapidly. Our customers get great benefits from working with us as an Australian-based manufacturer, but it is so important for us to be able to bring world-class innovations to continuously improve our products.

Q: How do we apply these insights to the Remax Doors business?
Lee: Our Research & Development team takes inspiration from these trade shows to explore ways to continuously improve the experience for our customers. By combining these insights with real feedback from our customers, we can focus on delivering the best user experience.

Q: Would you recommend attending BAU again?
Lee: Without a doubt. If we don’t keep up with these global trade shows, we risk falling behind in innovation, which has a flow on effect to our customers, who rely on us. It’s essential for staying ahead of the curve.

Final Thoughts

BAU 2025 reinforced the importance of cutting-edge technology, safety, sustainability, and smart solutions. At Remax Doors, we are excited to bring these insights back home, ensuring that our customers benefit from the latest global advancements, while still enjoying the benefits of working with an Australian owned and operated business.
